What Is Zinc Gluconate?
Zinc Gluconate is the zinc salt of gluconic acid. It is an ionic compound consisting of two moles of gluconate for each mole of Zinc. Zinc gluconate is a popular form for the delivery of Zinc as a dietary supplement. Zinc is a naturally occurring mineral. Zinc is essential for growth and the development and health of body tissues. Zinc is necessary for the functioning of more than 300 different enzymes and plays a vital role in an enormous number of biological processes. Zinc is a cofactor for the antioxidant enzyme superoxide dismutase (SOD) and is in several enzymatic reactions involved in carbohydrate and protein metabolism.

How Does Zinc Gluconate Work?
Zinc Gluconate has shown through studies that it may help promote immune system function. In addition to these studies, Zinc has been a long time "go-to" for attempting to quell symptoms of the common cold and other illnesses. Aside from it's purported benefits to immune system function, Zinc Gluconate may also be beneficial for regulating blood sugar levels. Zinc secretes insulin, the hormone responsible for moving sugar from your blood to tissues. Studies suggest that Zinc may keep the body sensitive to insulin while also regulating blood sugar levels.

Potential Benefits May Include:

  • May Help to Support a Healthy Immune System †
  • May Reduce Inflammation †
  • May Support Healthy Blood Sugar  †

Recommended Dosage:
Avoid taking Zinc Gluconate with foods that are high in calcium or phosphorus, which can make it harder for your body to absorb. We highly recommend adhering to the suggested serving sizes as too much Zinc can harm the body's ability to absorb copper and Iron. The FDA recommendation for Zinc for adults is 11 mg per day, while the tolerable upper intake level is 40mg for adults. Since this supplement is made up of only 12% Zinc, this means taking the maximum serving size of 335 mg will equal out to ~40 mg elemental Zinc.
