What is N-Acetyl L-Cysteine?
N-Acetyl L-Cysteine (NAC) is a naturally occurring compound within the body. However, it is considered a semi-essential amino acid as it is produced by the body through other amino acids, specifically methionine. NAC is not only a powerful antioxidant but the precursor to another compound found in the body called glutathione, a compound that offers antioxidant effects as well as immune support. Glutathione is arguably the most powerful antioxidant in your body and needs replenishing. The range of benefits from these amino acids ranges from assisting in reducing chronic respiratory conditions to brain health.

N-Acetyl L-Cysteine Potential Benefits May Include:

  • May support detoxification†
  • May support immune system health†
  • May assist in healthy respiratory function†

How Does N-Acetyl L-Cysteine Work?
For the human body to create the amino acid cysteine, it needs adequate amounts of folate and vitamins B6 and B12. The nutrients mentioned above are in both animal and plant-based foods such as beans, lentils, spinach, bananas, salmon, and tuna. NAC also plays a role in working alongside glutamine and glycine to help replenish glutathione, a vital amino acid that helps keep free radicals at bay. In conjunction with replenishing glutathione, NAC promotes brain health.† NAC may also play a role in the body's detoxification process by assisting in the prevention of damage to the kidneys and liver.†

Hard Rhino amino powders are the best I've found

Posted by Jason on 22nd Sep 2015

I can say briefly the NAC is very good, but in general I have been using Hard Rhino's amino powders now probably for about 2 years maybe longer and for me personally they are the best and most purest amino powders I've ever taken and I have tried lots of brands and have had various issues with some of them but I have never had a problem with Hard Rhino's amino powders so I can very highly recommend them. I've been supplementing my diet now for 3 years with various amino acids everyday and I have not been sick or had any kind of cold in 3 years so I am strong believer in amino acid supplementation and Hard Rhino is among the very best if not the best. If you want to stay healthy, mentally strong, physically fit , build a better body or improve in your athletic ability buy Hard Rhino products to supplement with a healthy food diet you will be well rewarded.

No my friend, 2 lbs it is, expiration date is June 2016, I won't be buying more for a while. They've added smaller sizes lately, I was used to getting at least 1 lb of most of their products so another pound isn't that much for me if the additional discount is significant at the time. I was placing another order today to get the discount sale prices on some items and saw your post. We take a lot of the same items. I usually check items out on WebMD and Mayo clinic, then some nonmedical health websites before purchasing. Like you I started making my own pre and post workout concoctions, I like HR's products and don't mind a little extra sitting around. Watch out for the fish poop!

I use about about 150 mg twice / diem always take w/ some vitamin "C"

This is a fantastic adjunct to my pre-workout formula. I serves to de-obstruct the pleura and counteract mucous buildup from whey protien powders and mucous causing foods that can overburden fluid metobolism. I furiously swim 5 miles openwater / cold water (in summer) per day and cannot afford getting crapped up. So, if used wisely it will really help you keep the pipes clear!. Be carefull , go easy unill you find your balance. Some heavy lifters report blown out mucous membraines, but I think that they way over do it. I use this with spirolina, 100 mg betaine, ascorbic acid and a few grams arginine, inositol, BCAA's, malic, citruline, B-5, B-12, etc. in a tea/ juice/ probiotic innoculated chia seed cocktail pre- work formula which follows a whey protien shake by an hour or so. If I am carefull, the blend is very incredibly tasty, then I know I got it right. I hope this helps to de-mystify this substance for that guy who bought a couple pounds of this. Really unimaginable! That can't be accurate. He must have meant ounces, right? Right!

    Great Product and Company

The taste cannot be described as good, but that is a testament to the fact that you are purchasing pure product here rather than product cut with filler and flavoring. I believe it has a high sulfur content, that is where the smell and taste come from. Most products I have gotten here have a milder smell and taste, but if you are serious about getting pure product at lower cost per serving this is where you want to get it. And as mentioned, you can also cap the product to avoid the taste, I just bought their capping machine and have used it for 2 other products. I always look to buy products here first, have about 30 of their products currently in use, just picked up another 2 lbs of NAC as I was running low.
