What is Maca Root 10:1 Powder?
Maca Root, also known as Lepidium meyenii or Peruvian Ginseng, is a plant native to the high Andes of Peru, and has been called the "Peruvian ginseng." The root belongs to the family brassica (mustard) and the Lepidum genus. It is closely related to rapeseed, mustard, turnip, and cabbage, and resembles a radish in appearance and color. Maca Root grows in the Andes of Central Peru, in altitudes above 13,000 feet. Dried Maca root contains 13-16% protein, 8% fiber, and 19 essential amino acids and vitamins. A further breakdown of its nutritional value shows that the root contains 133% of the recommended dietary intake of Vitamin C, 85% of the recommended dietary intake of Copper, and 23% of the recommended dietary intake of Iron. It is among the few foods considered to be an "adaptogen," a type of food that supports an improved overall life stress-free mood. The indigenous people of Peru have used it for centuries, as it has shown to contain nutritional and aphrodisiac qualities. It is traditionally used for its energy and stamina benefits; there are also more recent usages such as supporting libido in men and women.

Suggested Use:
