What Is Harvest Naturals Collagen Hydrolyzed Type I & III?
Collagen is an abundant protein naturally produced within the body, making up ⅓ of the body’s protein content, and plays various integral roles, including blood clotting and providing structure for the skin. It has become more common for individuals to implement collagen into their daily routine by way of consumption through beverages like coffee and collagen enriched shampoos and lotions. Harvest Naturals hydrolyzed collagen contains both Types I and Type III collagen. Type I collagen accounts for 90% of the human body’s collagen content. Type I collagen is made of densely packed fibers, providing structure to skin, bones, tendons, fibrous cartilage, connective tissue, and teeth. Type III collagen supports the construction of muscles, organs, and arteries. Supplementation of collagen becomes more important bodies age because they produce less and lower quality collagen.

Potential Benefits of Collagen Hydrolyzed Type I & III Include:

  • May potentially help promote muscle mass
  • May potentially promote healthier skin
  • May potentially help support ligaments and tendons

How Does Harvest Naturals Collagen Hydrolyzed Type I & III Work?
Collagen begins as procollagen through the marriage of two amino acids, glycine, and proline, which use vitamin C and other compounds and minerals to aid in creating collagen. The fibrous protein is durable and insoluble, making it ideal for supporting anatomical structures and anchoring cells to one another. Specific studies have shown that collagen peptide supplementation, in addition to strength training, may lead to an increase in muscle mass and strength. Collagen types 1 and 3 have also been shown to increase the skin's elasticity, which can have cosmetic benefits. Found in what is known as the extracellular matrix, collagen exists in an elaborate network of macromolecules responsible for determining bodily tissue's physical properties. In the middle layer of skin, also known as the dermis, collagen fibers form what are known as fibroblasts which new cells can grow on; collagen also plays a role in the replacing and restoring of dead skin cells.
