What is BCAA 2:1:1?
Branched-Chain Amino Acids, better known as BCAAs, are a set of three essential amino acids, Leucine, Isoleucine, and Valine. Amino acids are the building blocks of protein, which help your body to build muscle, repair muscle damage, and regulate immune function. BCAA supplementation may promote muscle protein synthesis, increase overall muscle growth, and help reduce fatigue after intense exercise, and increase fat loss.†

BCAA Benefits may include:

  • Increase in muscle growth due to the stimulation of muscle protein synthesis.
  • Has been shown to decrease muscle soreness.
  • BCAAs can decrease fatigue when taken during exercise.
  • May support healthy blood sugar levels by causing your muscles to take in more sugar from your blood.

How Does BCAA 2:1:1 Work?
The three amino acids in BCAA (Leucine, Isoleucine, and Valine) are the largest pool of essential amino acids in the body and represent a fairly high percentage level in muscle tissues, around 14-15%. This group of amino acids is highly involved in the regulation of muscle mass and is found in the standard diet, through the ingestion of protein. The metabolic process used for BCAAs is different compared to other amino acids in the body. BCAAs are metabolized in the skeletal muscles whereas other amino acids are passed through the liver. This vastly changes the effects of how these amino acids affect the body, as they are being directly metabolized into A-Keto acids via the enzyme branched-chain aminotransferase (BCAT). This allows these acids to be catabolized in the cell's mitochondria. The amino acid, Leucine, plays an important role in muscle protein synthesis, Isoleucine induces glucose uptake to cells, and Valine is used for muscle metabolism and tissue repair mechanisms. Leucine is the most important amino acid when it comes to the discussion of muscle synthesis; leucine activates a complex called mTOR, which ramps up muscle protein synthesis and therefore muscle growth. [1]
Muscle Empire BCAA is formulated to a 2:1:1 ratio of Leucine, Isoleucine, and Valine. It is instantized to dissolve faster and better in water. As a final note, a 2:1:1 ratio is the most effective when it comes to taking BCAA’s.
