What Is Ascorbic Acid?

Ascorbic Acid is a water-soluble essential vitamin, also known as Vitamin C and is well known for its potential immune defense assistance by supporting cellular functions in the immune system. It is also a very popular dietary supplement due to its antioxidant properties. Antioxidants are molecules that may also assist the immune system.†

Ascorbic Acid B
enefits & Uses May Include:

  • Support Healthy Immune System Response.†
  • Antioxident Properties.†
  • Metabolism Support.†

How Does Ascorbic Acid Work

Vitamin C is not stored in the body and must be replenished continuously from food or supplementation. Some foods high in Vitamin C include broccoli, orange juice, red, green or yellow peppers, strawberries, and tomatoes. It is believed that the antioxidant properties of Vitamin C are one of its most significant benefits. Antioxidants play an essential role in preventing damage to important cellular components caused by reactive oxygen, such as free radicals and peroxides. Vitamin C is also necessary for the production of collagen (a structural protein in connective tissue) and an essential part of the skin, bone, and joint health. Vitamin C is a requirement for amino acid metabolism and the utilization of many nutrients such as Folic Acid and iron.†

The vitamin is an integral part of the skin's defense system, as it is transported to the skin, helping to reinforce its barriers and acts as an antioxidant.

Vitamin C also plays an essential role in helping the body to create blood vessels, muscles, and collagen in bones.

Vitamin C also works to isolate free radicals in the body and is replenished by antioxidant enzymes. "Vitamin C's structure allows it to act on neurology..." [1] This makes Vitamin C a viable resource for neuroprotection. This vitamin also aids in the prevention of iron deficiency by improving the uptake in iron from food. Vitamin C converts that is insufficiently absorbed and transforms it into a more absorbable state. Studies show that daily consumption of 100mg of Vitamin C may improve iron absorption by as much as 67%. While Vitamin C promotes the healthy intake of iron, it also encourages the healthy production of white blood cells that are known as lymphocytes and phagocytes and keeps them safe from harm caused by free radicals.†

This Ascorbic Acid is extremely good for people with poor health and poor tendon health. I trust the purity and quality of this product and I will continue to buy it from here for many years into the foreseeable future.

    Great Product and Company

Posted by Scott on 31st Jan 2015

I've been a HR customer for over 15 months now and have tried many of their products, always good product delivered on time at a good price. I looked at the ingredients of popular retail supplement brands, and found that many of the basic ingredients can be purchased online here at HR at a significant per serving price savings. If you have a little do-it-yourself initiative stop spending money on the brand/coloring/flavoring/packaging of the retail favorites, and get your basic ingredients here at HR. For full disclosure, I have to make a higher initial investment to get the ingredients I want and many of them don't taste the best without flavor enhancement. But if you are serious about your supplementation for workouts or general health, in my experience at HR you get well packaged quality ingredients that arrive on time and will save you money on a per use basis over time.
